On offer is a Very Rare early original boxed set of balance scales used for weighing fish, used in the 18th & 19th centuries in England for weighing fish - 480mm wide x 340mm deep x 150mm wooden cased, hanging. Fishing competitions in the canals was a very popular sport in the day Featuring a wire mesh container, a copper pan and brass weights The weights are marked Avery Ltd or W T Avery, brass weights set 2lb, 1lb, 8oz, 4oz, 2oz, 1oz, 1/2oz & 1/4oz, all the weights have Crown Stamp G R and other marks Some age related wear, light surface rust on steel chain and wire mesh container, one end of the leather handle broken, some splits to the wood, Very Good 8/10
