How to Bid

Buyers are reminded that the highest bidder at the fall of the hammer is entering a binding contract.

You need to register for each sale you want to participate in and provide some more contact details

Timed Auctions

Timed auctions are run fully online and you can bid on lots in any order you like during the auction period

Once your buyer registration has been approved for a sale you can start placing bids

  1. From the lot details screen select the value of the bid you would like to leave on the lot
  2. By default the system will Auto-Bid for you up to the maximum value you have selected
  3. To immediately jump to your full value untick the Auto-Bid option
  4. If identical bids are placed, the person who bid first will take precedence.
  5. A message will show if you are the top bidder or have been outbid by another buyer
  6. Click the "My Bids" tab to view a summary of the lots you have bid on within the sale
  7. If you are the top bidder and later outbid by another buyer you will be sent an email notification

Auto Bids

  1. As other buyers place bids on a lot the system will counter bid on your behalf up to your specified maximum
  2. If the lot has a reserve the system will auto bid up to the reserve price even if there are no other buyers bidding against you
  3. If the auto bid has not yet reached your maximum value you can adjust your limit from the lot details screen, but can not reduce/remove your current leading bid

  1. The sale will start closing at the advertised time but not all lots will close at the same time
  2. Lots will close in groups and the closing time is shown for each lot along with a countdown timer
  3. If a bid is placed on a lot just before closing the closing time will be extended to give other buyers a chance to counter bid
  4. Lots will only extend their closing time 10 times due to last minute bidding and then will close regardless of any bidding activity
  5. Once closed bids can no longer be placed on the lot but can still be placed on other lots in the sale that have yet to close
  6. If the lot has a reserve and it has not been reached the lot is sold subject to vendor approval and we will be in touch

Live Auctions

Live auctions are held in person and streamed online. Lots are offered in a sequential process by the auctioneer and bids can only be made on the lot currently being auctioned.

Pre Sale / Absentee bidding

If you are unable to attend the sale in person you can leave an absentee bid which the auctioneer will action on your behalf

  1. Absentee bids are private and you can not see what bids other bidders have left or the highest absentee bid so far
  2. From the lot details screen enter the maximum value of the bid you would like to leave on the lot
  3. You can leave/adjust an absentee bid up to an hour before the live session begins
  4. To remove an absentee bid, adjust the bid to a value of zero
  5. An email notification will confirm your absentee bid
  6. Click the "My Bids" tab to view a summary of the lots you have left an absentee bid on

Absentee bids can also be placed by either by contacting us by phone or email with instructions up to the day prior to the auction
