300mm tall mid century West German pottery jug /vase with handle, featuring a drip style glaze in brown and cream with the classic lava drip glaze mid section,. Scheurich famously used an alphanumeric layout on the bottom of their moulded white-clay bases, 1892/30 to base, minor marks, Very Good 9/10 plus 257mm tall 1960's Dumler & Breiden Terra Series vase / jug . This striking, West German, modernist ceramic, handmade, hand-thrown, hand-decorated sgraffito. Sgraffito is a decorative technique that involves scratching through a layer of coloured slip (a thin liquid clay mixture) to reveal a different colour underneath. This technique is often used to create intricate patterns and designs on ceramics and other decorative objects. This vase is finished with a matte look. dark brown to the top half and base with central with green/brown/cream horizontal bands with sgraffito incised pattern, 313 25 Germany to base, light body marks and some white paint spots, minor marks, Very Good 8.5/10 (2)
